The familiar din of the Mercedes engine echoed through the area as Carlisle drove home from work.It had been a busy day , the way Carlisle like it.The fact that it was busy meant that He had been able to help more people.
Many years ago , Carlisle would hate having to come home from work .He would have to find some way to waste time so that the wait to go back didn't seem as bad.Yet that was before , of course, He had a family. That was before Esme.
The car soon reached the house , and reversed into the garage. Carlisle made His way to the front door. it was good to be home.
ooc//I'm really sorry that this sucks.I g2g , so this is as best as I could do in the time limit. T_T

Esme's keen ears picked up the telltale rumble of Carlisle's Mercedes long before it's glossy black paint was visible in the driveway. She smiled as the sound grew into a more pronounced growling, and carefully tucked the bookmark between the papery white pages before setting the book down on the glass coffee table and getting off the pale leather sofa. She drifted gracefully toward the entry way, her feet barely making a sound as they brushed the cool tiled floor. She smiled expectantly, opening the front door, and leaned against the door frame, the picture of ease and contentment. Esme waited patiently for her husband to arrive, and not 30 seconds later, the automatic overhead garage door began to open, and the low purring of the Mercedes became ever louder, filling the garage with it's rhythmic thrumming, as it backed into it's alloted place beside Rosalie's BMW convertible.
She smiled in anticipation, her eyes warming as Carlisle stepped out of the car and made his way towards where she waited by the front door; Esme hadn't seen Carlisle that much the past few days, since Jane's acceptance into the family and the shortage of doctors at the hospital hadn't left much time for them to be together, alone. It was something she had missed, especially Carlisle. He didn't seem to be himself lately, and she really did miss her Carlisle. He seemed much more reserved, almost too quiet, and Esme couldn't figure out why, though she had a pretty good hunch about what was bothering him: Edward's reluctance to accept Jane must have been bothering Carlisle.
"Welcome home." Her soft, musical voice rang with warmth as she greeted her husband, the smile always on her beautiful face warming even more at the sight of her golden blonde husband walking towards her. Even now, she felt a thrill go through her at the sight of his inhumanly beautiful, pale face. She was happy that it had been her Carlisle had chosen to change all those years ago. "Welcome home." Carlisle looked up to see Esme.He couldn't help but smile , knowing that He was truly home .As much as Carlisle loved His work , he had really missed spending time with Esme and yet.. when He actually was with Her..He wasn't Himself , all because of Edward and Jane.Carlisle really hated to dissapoint people , didn't He?He had done the right thing , at least.Yet , Carlisle would worry about that later..
He finally reached the door where Esme was , and put His work bag on the floor to hold Her close."I'm Sorry."He spoke softly. ooc//Brain dead. Sorry!!

Carlisle's voice was soft, barely a whisper when he spoke. "I'm sorry." The words were somewhat muffled by her wavy hair as Carlisle pulled her into his cool marble arms. It was such a simple statement, a mere two words out of the millions that made up the English language; they were two words could have a million different meanings, that could be construed a billion different ways, all squeezed into 7 letters, only two words of the vast English language. Yet, to Esme, those two simple words were enough to express everything Carlisle didn't say out loud. His tone was sad when he had spoken those two words. But why was he apologizing for something that wasn't his fault? It was beyond Esme.
"What are you apologizing for? It's not your fault. You did the right thing." Esme understood instantly what he was apologizing about, for she had been thinking about that very topic when he showed up, but she didn't understand why. It wasn't his fault that Edward had reacted badly when Carlisle let Jane join the family. It was just Edward, though Esme, too, though his reaction had been a little over the top. Was such animosity in an already strained household necessary? No. Esme sighed almost inaudibly as she patted Carlisle's back soothingly as they stood in the doorway, unmoving, like to inhumanely beautiful statues carved from smooth, cool marble, entwined in their embrace.

"What are you apologizing for? It's not your fault. You did the right thing." "Yes..I did the right thing.Jane had nowhere to go , and I couldn't turn Her away , as Edward fails to see.."He replied , before speaking again.
"There was another reason why I apologised . I haven't really been much like Myself lately , have I ?And that was because I hate to dissapoint people in any way . I was dwelling over Edward's reaction , and I think that I managed to dissapoint You and the others in a way at the same time.."Carlisle explained ,His voice barely a whisper as He did.He closed His eyes , Esme patting His back soothingly , Her calm words making Him feel better. At times like this , Carlisle truly had no idea what He would do without Esme.

"Yes... I did the right thing. Jane had nowhere to go, and I couldn't turn her away, as Edward fails to see.." A pause, as Carlisle ordered his thoughts. "There was another reason why I apologised. I haven't really been much like myself lately, have I? And that was because I hate to dissapoint people in any way. I was dwelling over Edward's reaction, and I think that I managed to dissapoint you and the others in a way at the same time..." As she listened to her husband's explaination, Esme pondered his unhappiness. She had noticed that he hadn't really been himself, but it was only because he was worried over Edward and Jane's situation. That was all. She was relieved that that was all that had been bothering him. Nothing too serious. "You've never dissapointed me before, Carlisle..." She said, the tone of her voice making it sound as if that fact were childishly obvious. She pulled back, reluctantly from their embrace, to guage his reaction. "If Edward is really that blind that he can't see the reason why you accepted Jane, then I'm personally amazed he hasn't walked into a wall yet," She retorted, her tone slightly sarcastic towards the end. A wry smile twisted up the corners of her pale lips. She pondered for a moment, before her tone turned serious. "But, keep in mind, that Jane has caused a lot more trouble for Edward than anyone else. You can't expect him to overlook all that in less than a week. He'll come around," Esme said softly, reassuringly as she hugged Carlisle again.

"You've never disappointed me before, Carlisle..." Esme made it sound like it was completely obvious that Carlisle had never disappointed her .Then again, maybe it was obvious, and Carlisle had just failed to realize it, other things on His mind most of the time. Either way, it made Carlisle smile.
"If Edward is really that blind that he can't see the reason why you accepted Jane, then I'm personally amazed he hasn't walked into a wall yet," Carlisle laughed softly , listening to what Esme was saying. ”It wouldn’t be very good if He did walk into the wall though. Do You remember when Emmett did it years ago and almost made the wall collapse? I’d rather not have that problem again..”
"But, keep in mind, that Jane has caused a lot more trouble for Edward than anyone else. You can't expect him to overlook all that in less than a week. He'll come around,"
“You are right there , He has had a lot of problems with Jane.Edward will come around eventually. Be it in a few weeks , months , or most likely Years. Yet I don’t think any of Us would like to wait that long. And until that time , We’ll just have to respect Edward’s wishes involving Bella and Jane.”Carlisle replied with a small smile .Talking to Esme like this had made Carlisle feel a lot better.
The grey clouds that had loomed overhead Forks the whole day started to release cold droplets of rain upon the two as They were hugging each other on the porch. “Shall We go inside now , or would You rather stay out here?”

”It wouldn’t be very good if he did walk into the wall, though. Do you remember when Emmett did it years ago and almost made the wall collapse? I’d rather not have that problem again..” Esme laughed with Carlisle, her laughter blending in with his, the musical sound resonating in the small clearing that was the front yard. She was glad that Carlisle wasn't so unhappy anymore. "Yes, that was a rather nasty problem. I don't remember quite how we explained it to the contractors who came to fix it, though I'll bet it was colorful," She added with a dazzling smile that flashed all her even perfect white teeth. She glanced at her much happier husband warmly, but the pitter-patter sound of rain drops that were falling increased in tempo and distracted her momentarily. “You are right there, he has had a lot of problems with Jane. Edward will come around eventually. Be it in a few weeks, months, or most likely years. Yet I don’t think any of us would like to wait that long. And until that time, we’ll just have to respect Edward’s wishes involving Bella and Jane.” Esme nodded in agreement. Just as she was about to say something about the rain that fell even harder now, Carlisle took the words right out of her mouth. “Shall we go inside now, or would you rather stay out here?” She laughed, though it did not go deep, and unwillingly released Carlisle from the embrace. "You know, as much as i love the rain, I think I'd rather go inside," She smiled again, and picked up Carlisle's bag before sweeping gracefully through the front door. She set down his bag by the couch.

"Esme..."He started , before pausing to kiss Her softly. After a while , He slowly and reluctantly pulled away and started to continue His sentence."Thankyou.I needed that talk."

"If I recall correctly, we let Alice come up with the story, so it was definitely colorful. I was really surprised at the time that the contractors even believed us when we told them." Esme laughed, now that she remembered the story more clearly. That Emmett-shaped hole in the wall had been rather difficult to explain to the contractors, though they had Edward to tell them if the contractors got suspicious, and Alice to tell them how they would react. It wasn't so difficult, when you had some help in the form of a mind-reader and someone who could predict the future. She smiled wry at the look on the contractors faces when they saw the hole that was alarmingly close to the shape of a human. It had been very amusing, and, according to Edward, their thoughts had been even funnier. "Esme." It was one word, simply spoken, but the lips from whose that word fell infused her name with love, and joy that made her feel radiant. Carlisle pulled her closer, his cool stone lips on hers for one too short moment, before he pulled away, reluctantly. "Thank you. I needed that talk." His voice was was relieved, mingled with gratitude. She smiled, "Any time. I'm glad you're not sad anymore."
